Yabu : The House of Katsu

Looking for something Japan-nice?

Here is an Authentic Japanese Restaurant that will surely satisfy your Japanese cravings.

Y A B U

Yabu opened last Novermber 2011 at its first branch in Megamall Atrium. I personally discovered Yabu tru people posting their food and experience in Facebook or Instagram. Became curious about the buzz, so I went to Yabu. My first Yabu experience was last February 2012. From then on, it was and still is my favorite Japanese Restaurant. Even though I live in Las Pinas, I drag my family or friends to go to Megamall despite of the EDSA traffic because of Yabu.

The House of Katsu
The word katsu is an abbreviation of the word "katsuretsu", which means "cutlet". It generally refers to a sliced piece meat that is breaded and deep fried. This dish was introduced by the Japanese culture late 19th century and in the beginning beef cutlets were used but pork eventually became more popular late 1900's.

I'm sure you have heard of TONKATSU from a famous fast food chain which is Tok-- Tok--, right?

"Ton" is Japanese for pork.

From the name itself The House of Katsu, 99% of their dishes here are breaded and deep fried. Weather its beef, pork, shrimp (tempura), oyster, squid, potato or whatever.

Appetizers

While waiting for your much waited dish your can order some of appetizers which you can select two from their four appetizers for only Php 195.00

Edamame which is young green soybeans. My favorite, its like eating peanuts.

Edamame
Superior Potato and Egg Salad are chunks of potato and egg in mayonnaise-mustard dressing.

Yabu has variety of drinks that they even served some Japanese Traditional Rice Wine which is Sake. However we ordered some non alcoholic drinks which are Four Seasons Juice and House Blend Ice Tea.  They also serve some complimentary hot or cold tea.
Cold Tea, Four Season and House Blend Ice Tea

The Sauce
Nothing beats Yabu's sauce for your much awaited Katsu.

1. Grind sesame seeds with mortar and pestle

2. Get some famous Bulldog sauce

3. Pour and mix

The Dish

All of their dishes are Katsu which means breaded and deep fried. You can order sets which is complete with Miso Soup, Rice, Salad, and Fruits or just Ala Carte wherein is will be sold per piece.

I usually order only one kind of dish however to try some for their famous dishes I also ordered Ala Carte Creamy Crab and Katsudon Set.
Creamy Crab
Hire Katsudon Set
But what I order always is HIRE Tenderloin Set.
Hire Tenderloin Set comes with 1 cup of Rice, Chopped Fruits, Miso Soup and Cabbage.

Yabu has 2 kinds of Tenderloin Set. Rosu or Hire.
The only difference is that Rosu is with Fat and Hire has no fat.

This is may favorite because the pork is very tender and juicy.
And the breadcrums? Its not oily like others.

Best thing about this is that Cabbage Salad is UNLIMITED and Rice is UNLIMITED

But I love their salad the most with their home made dressing.
THE BEST EVER. I always ask for more like 3 times more.
Hire Tenderloin Set
Yabu caters to all ages. They even have kiddie meals for youngsters.

Thats the reason why its was named as the Best Restaurants for 2012.

Buffet 101

Nowadays, people prefer FOREVER OR UNLIMITED. Every where you turn, you'll see

Call and Text Unlimited
Internet Surfing Unlimited
Bottomless Ice Tea
Rice All-You-Can
and of course
Eat All-You-Can

Filipinos were first introduced by an Eat-All-You-Can Restaurant with Cabalen. Cabalen offers those all time favorite Filipino dishes that will surely capture the stomach of each and every one of us. Then came the Big 3 which is the Dads , Saisaki and Kamayan . When someone tells you like "Tara, Dads tayo!", first thing that pops in your head is you won't eat anymore so that you'll be ready to fit everything for your Mr. Anaconda Stomach. These 3 Restaurants are interconnected to one another but they offer different dishes. Dad's is American European as for Saisaki its Japanese and not so obvious Kamayan is Filipino Dishes.

However there is one restaurant that can cater from Filipino to American to Japanese to European to Chinese. It will be Buffet 101.

We all know that buffets can cost a lot. Buffet 101 will be Php 900.00 per person. Eat-all-you-can and Drink-all=you-can (even beer). Yes, it is pricey BUT I assure you here in Buffet 101 your every cent counts. Just like your every bite is.

From soups to appetizers
Mushroom Cream Soup
Chicken and Sausages

From China to Japan to Europe
Its like you've been around the whole word.
Chinese Siomai, Bochi and Dumplings
Japanese Sushi and Maki
European Dishes
From Fried to Grilled
To whatever way I wanted it to be.
Steaks

Fresh Grilled Rib-Eye Steak

And of course deserts

Buffet 101 indeed takes buffet to a whole new level.
Its not just buffet, its World Class Buffet.

When I went to Casa San Pablo (2011), I don't have any leave credits yet and the only available day for me too relax or take a break is over the weekend with my 2 Day Offs.

Thankfully Casa San Pablo offers Day Tour Packages that can fit my schedule.
Having that quick getaway. A way from work and pollution.

Sorry, I was not able to take pictures during Lunch because I was charging the camera battery. Anyway, lunch was buffet. I won't forget the tilapia wrap around some banana leaf with gata for lunch. And for merienda? TURON with Langka was the best. I even ordered some take-out. BEST TURON I have ever tasted in my whole entire life.

While waiting for the food to be served, there is this man in green shirt whom I noticed who keeps on fixing books, cleaning the tables and checking the rooms.

LOOK FOR THE GREEN MAN

This man was the very same man who greeted and welcomed me at Casa San Pablo. He was very friendly and approachable. This man was very nice to show me around that he even invited inside this big house located at Casa San Pablo.

This big house above is the owner's house. And who is the owner anyway? He himself.
OWNER of Casa San Pablo who is Mr. Boots Alcantara.
